Fedora Core 4 is My New Friend
I got a few hours to test drive the latest Linux release, Fedora Core 4. This is really one of the coolest release of 2006! Upgrade over my existing Fedora Core 3 installation was as smooth as silk. Reinstallation on my Dell D600 laptop went as well. MySQL 4, PHP 5, and Apache 2 came out of the box and saved my hours' efforts in compiling and configuring. The only pity was that I seemed to have difficulty to bind HTTPD on my favorite port 88, which by default seemed to be taken by Kerberos 5; and the built-in IPW2000 driver still treated my intel wireless card as ethernet card, which required further patch with the driver and firmware from AtRPMs. Anyone who uses and/or plays with Linux should definitely try it out!
