Apple Computer Inc. said on Tuesday its iTunes online music store would begin selling movies from Disney, Pixar, and Touchstone as the company makes its most aggressive move yet into the digital home. Currently there are only about 75 films available for purchase for relatively high prices ($9.99 - $12.99), and each movie will take about 30 minutes to download for those who use high-speed internet connection.
Today I learnt from our librarian that Microsoft has released their version of "scholar search" -- a special search engine on scientific publications and corresponding citations, similar to Google Scholar. Interesting enough, this search engine is wrapped under the big umbrella of "live", given a ugly name of "Windows Live Academic" (link) -- a proof that "live" is one of the favorite keywords in their marketing department now.
A simple search of "artificial intelligence" returns about 45,000 results at Microsoft Live Academic. Comparing with the 737,000 results for the same query at Google Scholar, it looks like Microsoft has to work really "macro hard".
